If you study history, you will see that economies have grown in two possible ways:

1. By savings, which is then pooled for improvements in capital investment, plant, research, and equipment, or to fund new ventures.

2. By credit and debt.

In the first scenario, bankers have no role to play whatsoever.

In the second however, they are relied upon.
